When my husband and I got into a fight the other day about what to get our son for his birthday, we just decided that we would each get our own things for him. I called him to see what he was going to get, and he told me that he had found a hornby trains set that was on sale on ebay, and he figured that he would buy that. He asked what I was getting, and I told him that it was a surprise. He was a little upset by my remark, but I was still upset with him about the gift ideas.

When I was growing up, I sometimes had a really hard time with math. Once I got the concept down, I was fine, but I struggled really hard with fractions at first. My mom felt like she wasn’t capable of teaching me, so she had my exmormon dad do it. Well, I didn’t understand it the first time and he started yelling at me, so I just sat there bawling. I think I ended up getting extra help from my teacher and never asked my exmormon dad for help again. He’s too impatient. I’m as patient as possible when I help my kids.
