Photo Baby Announcements is the latest page addition to grace our local newspaper. The page features announcements of newborns in town that is accompanied by a photo of the baby; and when news space allows it, photos of the newborn’s parents are sometimes featured.
Although the page is only a week-old, it has already gathered quite a following. Proof of which is how the local daily continues to be flooded with letters requesting for their newborn to be featured. There are also Letters to the Editor praising the newspaper for making space for this kind of announcements.
Some are saying that what the newspaper is doing is very commendable, adding that the page is making parents whose daughters or sons have already been featured feel they belong in a community. However, there are those who are saying that the local daily is wasting valuable news space, adding that the space used for the announcements would be better off used in more important endeavors such as additional news specifically the developmental ones.
Nevertheless, whatever your stand on the matter, one thing is clear, that is, that what the paper has done has caused quite a stir in the community where it is being circulated.
